Obesity medicine is the field of medicine dedicated to the comprehensive care of patients with obesity. Clinicians who practice obesity medicine use a comprehensive, scientific, and individualized approach to treat obesity and to help patients achieve their weight and health goals. AJLM

I grew more interested in Obesity Medicine during the pandemic in 2021. I was busy as a primary care physician in the midst of the global COVID crisis, taking care of my patients remotely and in-person.

I wanted to obtain more training on weight management because many of my patients were concerned about their weight gain during the pandemic.

I discovered that there was a fellowship program offered through the American Board of Obesity Medicine and I completed my requirements though Harvard University’s Blackburn Course in Obesity Medicine remotely in 2021. I then sat for the board exam and became a Diplomate of the ABOM in January 2022.

Helping patients lose weight in a meaningful way was so rewarding for both my patients and me! I left the private practice I was with at that time to focus solely on obesity medicine. A month or so later, the Lord called me to wait -

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
